Description

~ OCT-Aidan: Fear ~

“Why don't you want to see me, Aidan?” his mother spoke with teary sadness. “Why don't you let me touch you? I used to cradle you and sing to you, wouldn't you like that any more?”

“You disappoint me, Aidan,” uttered Aedgar's severed head reproachfully. “Why do you run from us? Be a man and look me in the eye when I speak to you!”

Aidan could not move, only tremble and repeat:

“No, no, please! I can't...I can't... God, no!”

(fragment from Sons of Disobedience)

My entry for :iconoc-training: 's task "Fear". I've always described Aidan as morbid, so here it goes:

Aidan's greatest fear is a violent and gruesome death. Every since he was a child he would imagine finding his mother dead, and the older he grew and the more he got to see of dead bodies and understand about pain, the worse this fear got. In his nightmares, he sees his mother Merwyn burning in Hell for her sins and older brother Aedgar beheaded and disfigured in battle. Though he wants to be a warrior, he's afraid that he would be die foolishly, powerlessly, after a long agony and bearing terrible wounds.

:bulletred: The helmet Aedgar (left) is wearing is based on the Sutton Hoo helmet.

Media: ink pens (finally experimenting with ink and I love it, so you'll be seeing more in this style ^^)
